Advanced Composite Constructions
The Finn Flyer yachts are made with a special ACC technology, developed by Finn Yachts Ltd, ensuring a light and strong construction. The hull is made of vacuum injected Vinylester or Epoxy resin with biaxial and unidirectional E-glass laminate, reinforced with Kevlar in the bow and keel area, and Divinycell as core material. A structural framework of carbon stringers for the keel and chain plates is laminated into the hull, to provide optimum hull stiffness at minimum weight.
While the hull is still in the mold it is post cured in an oven for 24 hours at 60°C. The deck is similarly built and reinforced by Kevlar and Carbon. Rudder and rudderstock are built in vacuum molded carbon fiber. All structural bulkheads and interiors are laminated to the hull adding to the stiffness of the construction.
The bulkheads and interior, including cupboards, doors and floors are all GRP laminates with Divinycell core, built in a special heated laminating press and covered with a thin teak or oak veneer on visible surfaces. This interior gives optimum stiffness at lowest possible weight still with the exclusivity of a wooden interior.
This work procedure is also safe for our employees, and environmentally friendly. All our yachts can be customized to the customers´ ideas and wishes.
