The Yard and History
Founded in 1976 as Polar Yachts by Stig Johansson the main product was the Finn Flyer 31. This boat based on a IOR racing design by local Finnish naval architect Eivind Still was a great success. The yacht performed very well in racing and had a nice and carefully built interior for cruising. The boat was delivered in two versions, the R/C optimized for racing with less interior and a racing deck layout and C/R with a cruising deck and a nice comfortable high quality interior made in teak wood. The Finn Flyer 31 was built and delivered in 88 pcs between 1982 to 2002.
In 2005 the son of Stig, Hans Johansson with his wife Johanna Johansson took over the yard and it was re-named Finn Yachts. Togehter with Eivind Still they designed and started to build the new Finn Flyer 32, a more modern boat but still in the same spritit as the ancestor FF 31. The yard also worked as a subcontractor to both Nautor Swan and Baltic Yachts, building several Swan 53 decks and hulls and custom works.
In late 2006 the idea of a new slightly larger performance cruiser came up, contact to the talented naval architect Karl-Johan Stråhlamann at Strahlmann Yacht Design was established. This new slick and modern yacht came out as the Finn Flyer 36 in late 2008. The yacht was a good success, scoring well on the race track and at the same time being a very good cruising boat. In 2010 the both larger and smaller FF 42 and FF34 were introduced to the market. The full line is designed by Strahlmann Yacht Design and following the same ideology.

Our basic arguments are;
- High-tech product in the best possible value for the price level.
- We build the customer’s boat with the customer, not just a boat for a customer built by us.
- We tailorbuild our boats to reasonable cost, ”one-of-a-kind” and not ”one-in-the-masses”.
- Personal service between the yard and the customer, accurate delivery and budget schedules.
